Gaskets Inc. is proud to share another update on our continued sponsorship of the Rio High School BuildMoto team—now officially named the Rio Bikings, a creative nod to their school’s “Rio Vikings” identity. Since our last update, the team has made impressive progress as they push forward through the heart of the build season, transforming their project bike into a true race ready machine.
From Teardown to Track Ready
Following their transition from teardown to rebuild, the Rio Bikings have hit several important milestones. The bike is now fitted with new race tires, while the gas tank is being finished in a bold red, white, and blue American flag design. At the same time, the team has removed the front ABS system and continues making progress on a custom exhaust and radiator shield. The brake assembly has also been fine-tuned, with new handlebars, a lightweight battery, and a completed air intake system up next. Piece by piece, the Rio Bikings are turning hard work into horsepower.
Roadmap to Race Day
As outlined in the BuildMoto program roadmap, the teams move through a structured progression of teardown, fabrication, testing, and final race preparation. The Rio High School BuildMoto team is now entering one of the most critical phases: performance tuning and system integration. With Dyno Day scheduled for May 2nd, the team will soon evaluate their bike’s performance metrics and make final adjustments ahead of competition.
All of this hard work leads to race day on May 16 at Beaver Cycle Club (Beaver Dam, WI), where the Rio Bikings will compete alongside other student teams from Wisconsin. This event represents the culmination of months of hands-on learning, problem-solving, and collaboration—core elements that make the BuildMoto program such a valuable educational experience.
